Semantic Satiation

Word or a phrase loses meaning

A person experiences semantic satiation when they repeat a word or phrase so often that it temporarily loses meaning to that individual, instead of being perceived as meaningless sounds. This effect can also be produced by staring at the same phrase for an extended period of time. 1)
