Sean Connery

Full Name

His full name was Sir Thomas Sean Connery.1)


Thomas Sean Connery was born in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, Scotland on 25 August 1930.2)


His mother, Euphemia “Effie” McBain McLean, worked as a maid.3)


Joseph Connery, Connery's father, was a factory worker and truck driver. In the mid-nineteenth century, his paternal grandfather's parents immigrated to Scotland from Ireland.4)


His maternal great-grandparents were native Scottish Gaelic speakers from Fife and Uig on Skye, while the rest of his family was Scottish.5)


Connery has stated that he was known as Sean, his middle name, before he became an actor. In his youth, he was commonly referred to as “Tommy”.6)


Although he was short in elementary school, he developed quickly after the age of 12 and reached his full adult height of 6 ft 2 in (188 cm) by the age of 18.7)
