Casa Loma

Casa Loma is a neo-Gothic castle in the Canadian city of Toronto, built between 1911 and 1914 by Henry Mill Pellatt, a wealthy industrialist and financier. It cost him $3.5 million to build this house. After a few years, his fortune turned around and he had to leave the castle. Today it is owned by the city. Both the villa and the Victorian gardens are an attraction and are visited by over 400,000 tourists a year. 1)

Palacio Real

The Palacio Real has 1,450,000 sq ft of floor space, making it more than twice the size of Versailles, Stockholm Palace, or Buckingham Palace. It is the largest functioning royal palace in Europe - although the King of Spain no longer lives there. 2)

Jelgava Palace

Jelgava Palace was from the 13th century the seat of the Order of the Cavaliers of the Sword. Later the capital of the united Duchy of Courland and Semigallia subordinated to the Republic of Poland. The penultimate duke of Courland Ernest Jan Biron demolished the old castle and built a grand palace in its place. From 1798 to 1807 the palace was the temporary residence of King Louis XVIII exiled from France. 3)


Amalienborg has been the official residence of Danish monarchs and the Danish royal family in Copenhagen since 1794. Amalienborg Palace is named after Queen Sophia Amelia, who had a summer palace with a garden built on the site between 1667 and 1673. Amalienborg is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Copenhagen. 4)

Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace is a country estate located in Blenheim, Oxfordshire. It is the only building of this type in England that bears the title “Palace”. without being owned by the Church or royal authority. Built between 1705 and 1722, it was intended as a gift to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough from the nation for his victories during the War of the Spanish Succession. It combines the functions of a residential house, mausoleum, and national monument. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was born in the palace. 5)

Mysore Palace

Mysore Palace is located in the Indian city of Mysore. The palace is one of the largest palaces and one of the most visited monuments in India. It is also known as Amba Vilas Palace. It is a treasure trove of exquisite sculptures and artworks from all over the world. It was once the residence of Wodeyar Maharaja of Mysore state. The original palace was built of wood but burned down in 1897. It was rebuilt in 1912. The present palace is built in the Indo-Saracenic style and combines Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic architectural styles. 6)
