Hollywood
Hollywood - a district of the city of Los Angeles in the United States and the most important center of American cinematography. The word Hollywood is used as an abbreviation for the American film and television industry regardless of where it is shot.
Hollywood was a small community in 1870 and was renamed a community in 1903. In 1910, Hollywood was officially incorporated into Los Angeles and the film industry started to develop there soon after.1)

The first Hollywood film studio was Nestor Studio, located in a roadhouse at 6121 Sunset Blvd. in 1911, by New Jersey's Centaur Co.6)
Hollywood sign
A real estate developer put in place the world famous Hollywood sign in 1923. It was initially planned to remain in position to advertise properties for 18 months. It read 'Hollywoodland,' initially. Long after it was intended, the sign stayed in place, and the word 'land' was removed in 1949.7)
