NHL

The National Hockey League (NHL) is a professional organization of 31 field hockey teams in North America. The teams belonging to the NHL compete for the Stanley Cup each season. 1)

Ice Hockey

Analysis indicates that in England, competitive ice hockey games were first played on skates and that the oldest rules were also written in England. Canada has made major contributions to the game since the 1870s. 2)

Stanley Cup

In 1893, the Stanley Cup was created, while the NHL was created in 1917. It was named after the Preston Governor General of Canada, Lord Stanley. 3)

The Stanley Cup has been won every single year, except twice since 1914. There was one time in the course of a Spanish flu pandemic in 1919 and during the NHL lockout in 2005. 4)

Zamboni

The Zamboni is a machine for ice cleaning. To ensure the players have a clean and smooth piece of ice, it goes around the ice many times per game. It was invented by Frank Zamboni in 1949. 5)

Unicycle Hockey

Unicycle hockey, as crazy and risky as it sounds, is almost nothing more than hockey on unicycles. Each team consists of five players who are expected at all times to have both feet on their unicycle. 6)
