Frank Hayes, born 1901, was a U.S. jockey that won steeplechase after his death. He suffered a heart attack halfway through the race, but the horse finished first with Hayes on its back¹⁾.

He was 22 at the time, and this was his first win. He was the first, and the only jockey to have won a race after death.

His horse, “Sweet Kiss”, was nicknamed “Sweet Kiss of Death” for the rest of her life.
