By the age of nine, Musk was said to have read the entire Encyclopedia Britannica. At the age of 12, Musk taught himself to write computer code and developed a video game named Blastar, which he later sold to PC and Office Hardware magazines for $500.⁴⁾

Musk was the youngest and tiniest boy in his class, and he was constantly abused. He ended up in the hospital once when he was thrown down a flight of stairs by a group of boys and said that on one point he was “almost beaten to death.”  He learned karate, judo and wrestling as a result of that. ⁵⁾
