Cheetah

Incredible speed

Cheetahs run 25 feet per stride. They can run up to 70 mph. 1)

Virtual clones

Their blood enzymes are all alike - they are virtual clones. 2)

Sub-Saharan Africa

Almost all wild cheetahs are found in sub-Saharan Africa, where they roam the open grassy plains of the savannah and open forests. A small population lives in northeastern Iran, though only a few dozen remain. 3)

Carnivores

Cheetahs are carnivores and live off other animals they find on the African plains, including rabbits, warthogs, gazelles, and birds. 4)

Female cheetahs are solitary

Female cheetahs are solitary, living alone or with their young. Males, however, live in small groups. 5)

Black tear-marks

The black “tear marks” that cover the cheetah's face prevent the sun from penetrating and blinding the animal while hunting. 6)

Can't roar

Cheetahs are the only big cats that cannot roar. They can purr, however, and usually purr loudest when they are grooming or sitting near other cheetahs. 7)
