Bollywood

Hindi cinema is an Indian Hindi film industry based in Mumbai, often known as Bollywood and previously as Bombay cinema (formerly Bombay). The term 'Bombay and Hollywood' is used as a portmanteau. The industry is related to South Indian cinema and other Indian film industries and is the largest film production in the world.1)

1947

In 1947 with Indian independence, the Golden Age of Indian Cinema dawned. The period between 1947 and 1961 was known as The Golde Age because it introduced new ideas and values without overlooking the fundamental characteristics of Indian cinema, a splendid combination of both old and new. 2)

Lagaan

In the history of Bollywood cinema, Aamir Khan's 'Lagaan' featured the most British actors ever cast in a single film. 3)

130 dresses

Kareena Kapoor wore over 130 different dresses by top fashion designers from around the world in the film 'Heroine.' According to reports, Kareena's wardrobe for the film was one of the most expensive of any Bollywood film ever made! 4)

Mughal-E-Azam

Mughal-e-Azam was a trilingual film, with all scenes shot in Hindi, Tamil, and English three times. When the Tamil version failed miserably, the English version was scrapped. 8)

Headline

Ila Arun and Alka Yagnik shared the award for best female playback in 'Khalnayak' for 'Choli Ke Peeche.' This was the only time in Bollywood awards history that two playback singers shared an award.9)
