Formerly Bombay

Hindi cinema is an Indian Hindi film industry based in Mumbai, often known as Bollywood and previously as Bombay cinema (formerly Bombay). The term 'Bombay and Hollywood' is used as a portmanteau. The industry is related to South Indian cinema and other Indian film industries and is the largest film production in the world.1)

1947

In 1947 with Indian independence, the Golden Age of Indian Cinema dawned. The period between 1947 and 1961 was known as The Golde Age because it introduced new ideas and values without overlooking the fundamental characteristics of Indian cinema, a splendid combination of both old and new. 2)
