Saul Goodman

He is well known as the smooth-talking lawyer. On the AMC crime drama series Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul, Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill.4)

Mr. Show

He is also recognized for co-creating and starring in the HBO sketch comedy series Mr. Show with Bob and David with fellow comic and friend David Cross.5)

SNL and Ben Stiller

Odenkirk worked as a writer for Saturday Night Live and The Ben Stiller Show from the late 1980s through the early 1990s, receiving two Emmys for his efforts.6)

Big Comedy

He also wrote for Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Get a Life, and played Agent Stevie Grant in The Larry Sanders Show.7)

Tim & Eric

Odenkirk found the comic combo Tim & Eric in the early 2000s and produced their television programs Tom Goes to the Mayor and Tim and Eric. Awesome Show, Great Job!8)


He was responsible for directing three films. Melvin Goes to Dinner (2003), Let's Go to Prison (2006), and The Brothers Solomon (2007) are among them.9)

Executive Producer

He was also an executive producer for The Birthday Boys, a sketch comedy program. After watching their act at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, I collaborated on the show with the comedy troupe.10)

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul's popularity led to roles in high-profile films such as Nebraska, directed by Alexander Payne, Fargo, written by Noah Hawley, The Post, directed by Steven Spielberg, and Disney/Incredibles Pixar's 2, written and directed by Brad Bird.13)


Odenkirk graduated from Naperville North High School. He then attended College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.14)


He got his start in comic writing as a radio DJ for WIDB, SIU's local non-broadcast student station. He established The Prime Time Special, a late-night (midnight to 4 a.m.) radio comedy show at WIDB.15)
