In 1985, Air India Flight 182 flew from Toronto, Canada to Delhi, India, stopping in Montreal and London along the way. The aircraft, a Boeing 747-237B, was hit by a bomb mid-flight at 31,000 feet and crashed into Irish airspace in the Atlantic Ocean. The event resulted in the deaths of 329 passengers and was the first time a 747 jumbo jet was bombed. The bulk of the victims were Canadians, with a few British and Indians thrown in for good measure. Until September 11, 2001, it was Canada's biggest mass murder and the worst terrorist attack on a passenger plane. ¹⁾
