Weirdest Cars
Toyota Sera
It wasn't especially powerful, with a 1.5-liter inline-four cylinder engine producing 108 horsepower and 97 pound-feet of torque, and it wasn't exactly appealing to the eye. But it's when you open its two doors that the real fun begins. The Sera didn't have conventional doors; instead, it had butterfly doors that opened forward from the top-center of the windscreen and the bottom of the A-pillar, close to the Saleen S7 and McLaren F1. 1)
Chevrolet SSR
The Chevrolet Super Sport Roadster (SSR) is a convertible pickup truck with a retractable hardtop. Are you perplexed? You weren't the only one who felt this way. Between 2003 and 2006, Chevrolet manufactured the SSR. Chevrolet didn't help matters by looking like a jumble of different body types tossed together. 2)
Nissan Pulsar NX
The Pulsar NX was like a toy car come to life, with a shooting brake hatch that could be removed to transform it into a sports coupe. When the hatch was replaced, the Pulsar NX was transformed into a shooting brake model. 3)
BMW Z1
The BMW Z1 was a one-of-a-kind car that inspired the Z3 and, more recently, the Z4 Roadster. It didn't have the classic BMW appearance of the time. The kidney grille was so thin that it resembled the nose of a rodent. It had unusual headlamps that were recessed into the hood. And, of course, there were the vertically sliding doors that slid into the door sills. 4)
Lamborghini LM002
Lamborghini's LM002 off-road truck was originally designed for military use. During the model's seven-year run from 1986 to 1993, production versions were eventually developed. Complete leather trim, tinted power windows, air conditioning, and even a luxury stereo system mounted in a roof console were all standard features on these civilian production models. 5)
Subaru BRAT
Isn't the name self-explanatory? It's a four-wheel-drive, light-duty coupe utility vehicle. Never mind that utes are still odd-looking due to the tonneaus behind the passenger compartments; the BRAT brings the oddness to a whole new stage with its moniker. BRAT stands for “Bi-drive Recreational All-Terrain Transporter,” which is a strange name in and of itself. The model itself isn't especially appealing, and it was never equipped with anything more powerful than a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. 6)
