Trackers—programs that coordinate the transfer of torrents are told where to get torrent files by the file name extension or metadata. ¹⁾

Bram Cohen was the first to bring BitTorrent to the world in 2001. It was a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol that allowed splitting a file into smaller bits, known as torrents. BitTorrent developed over the years and became even better. ²⁾
