During the Olympics in Antwerp, Amsterdam, and Paris, Heuer watches were worn. Because of their high precision clocks, TAG Heuer was the official timekeeper for these three Olympics. As a result, TAG Heuer established itself as an industry authority in timing sporting events and earned a stellar reputation. ⁴⁾

In 1914, Heuer introduced its first wrist chronograph. Prior to this point, Heuer, like all other brands, was all about pocket watches. ⁵⁾

The oscillating pinion is a moving shaft with two sprockets attached to it. The first pinion is in permanent engagement with the watch movement's second wheel, while the opposite pinion clamps into the chronograph center wheel after a short swing. The connection is made, and the chronograph begins to run as a result. The oscillating pinion moves away from the central wheel when the other chronograph button is pressed, and the Chronograph pauses. ⁶⁾

However, this was not the Autavia wristwatch as we know it today. Instead, the initial Autavia model was a race car dashboard stopwatch. It was also the world's first dashboard stopwatch for race vehicles when it was released. ⁷⁾

In 1911, Heuer received a patent for the first dashboard chronograph.⁸⁾

TAG Heuer first introduced the Mikrograph in 1916. This timepiece was so precise and accurate that it could measure one hundredth of a second. The movement used to create such a watch beat at a rate of 360,000 vph. This is ten times faster than the 36,000 vph chronographs that are usually considered fast. ⁹⁾
