Motorhead

Song

'Motorhead' was not just Lemmy's debut song for his renowned band of the same name; it was also the last song he penned for his previous band, Hawkwind. It was released as the B-side to the 1975 song 'Kings of Speed'. 1)

Overkill

Motorhead found its stride with 1979's magnificent 'Overkill' album, which has one of the most popular cover designs by veteran artist Joe Petagno, who astonishingly pulled it out in less than two pressure-packed weeks. 2)

Dead Men Tell No Tales

Despite his famous drug use, Lemmy composed the song 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' about the 'Bomber' album's producer, Jimmy Miller, who was suffering from heroin addiction at the time of recording. 3)

Rock Band 2

When Motorhead's trademark song, 'Ace of Spades,' was modified for the video game 'Rock Band 2,' the lyrics were altered to represent Lemmy's immortality: “I don't want to live forever… But it appears that I am”. 4)

Philthy 'Animal' Taylor

Philthy 'Animal' Taylor, the legendary drummer for Motorhead, was so reckless that he once overlooked a fractured neck (inflicted during a drunken high jinx, of course) and continued touring. As a keepsake, he has an orange-sized bump on the back of his neck. 5)

Sepultura

The song 'Dancing on Your Grave' by Motorhead influenced the name of Brazil's most famous heavy metal band. They loved the way the word 'grave' sounded in Portuguese after translating the song's title: Sepultura. 6)

'Killed By Death' Video

No Lemmys were hurt in the production of the classic 'Killed by Death' video from 1984: a stuntman was recruited to drive the Harley Davidson through walls and out of the grave. 7)
