| Wills (guitarist), Kenning (guitarist and bassist), and Savage were the original members of the band (drummer). Joe Elliott offered the moniker "Deaf Leopard," which was originally a band name he came up with when writing reviews for fictitious rock bands in his English class. The spelling was slightly changed at Tony Kenning's suggestion to make the name appear less like that of a punk band.
