Two men, Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler started out independently at the turn of the 20th century. In view of the changes in post-war German industry and the desire for some kind of integration, these men combined their activities and in 1926 the company Daimler-Benz was founded. ¹⁾

The name Mercedes, contrary to popular belief, does not come from the name of the daughter of one of the two gentlemen. The only fact is that it is of Spanish origin and was borne by the daughter, but Emil Jellinek passionate about automobiles. Jellinek was a customer of Daimler, and it was thanks to him that the name Mercedes was attached to cars and continues to be used with incredible force today. ²⁾

The first models of Mercedes were very well received by users. The greatest popularity was gained by the emerging fascism in Germany. After Hitler came to power Mercedes brand was considered official for the administration and Adolf Hitler himself received from Mercedes as a gift a special “armored” version of Mercedes Grosser. ³⁾

Mercedes AMG is a company founded in 1967 that deals with the tuning of serial Mercedes cars. Thanks to special modifications AMG Mercedes get sporty parameters and are intended for people with a fat wallet and sporty flair. ⁴⁾

The first serial Mercedes with a diesel engine was the 260 D model produced between 1936 and 1940. ⁵⁾
