Coldplay is a British rock band that established in London in 1996.1)
Chris Martin, bassist Guy Berryman, guitarist Johnny Buckland, and drummer Will Champion make up the band.2)
Martin and Buckland founded the band after meeting at University College London (also known as the UCL).3)
They were initially known as Pectoralz, but in 1997, they changed their name to Starfish.4)
When Champion joined the band, now known as Coldplay, he had no prior expertise with the drums.5)
Coldplay began their career with the indie label Fierce Panda.6)
In 1999, they signed with Parlophone Records.7)
Their debut album, Parachutes, was recorded in four separate studios.8)
Their first song from Parachutes, “Shiver”, peaked at 35th in the UK Top 40. “Yellow,” their hallmark song from Parachutes, peaked at number four.9)
