The oldest company in the world, Kongō Gumi, is operating for over 1440 years. It was founded in 578AD and to this day is specialised in building traditional wooden temples and shrines1).
Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan, is the oldest hotel still in operation. It was founded in 705 AD by Fujiwara Mahito in Hayakawa, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan2).
As of March 2021, World Largest companies by market capitalization are: Apple, Inc. ($2,051 bn), Saudi Aramco ($1,920 bn), and Microsoft ($1,778 bn)3). Apple was the first company to break $2 trillion in 2020, and earlier it was the first to record capitalisation of $1 trillion in 20184).
Wallmart is the biggest employer from a private sector, with workforce of 2.100.000. McDonald's is the second, with 1.900.000 people5). However, when we include public institutions, the biggest global employers are US Department of Defense, with 3.200.000 people, and Chinese military (People's Liberation Army) with 2.300.000 employees.
