The term “boycott” is named after Charles Cunningham Boycott (1832 – 1897), an English land agent who wouldn't lower rents for his tenants. They began a campaign of isolation against Boycott in the local community, including withdrawing their labor, and some local shops refused to serve him¹⁾.
