Kotányi
The producer of spices Kotányi is an Austrian company. In 1881 János Kotányi founded a bell pepper mill in Segedin (then Austria-Hungary), which was the beginning of the company. A few years later, Kotányi opened branches in Budapest and Vienna. Today, the company's headquarters are located in Wolkersdorf im Weinviertel, Austria. It is managed by the founder's great-grandson, Erwin Kotányi. 2)
Wolfgang Schwarz
Wolfgang Schwarz, Austrian figure skater; Olympic champion from Grenoble, two-time world runner-up (1966, 1967), three-time European runner-up (1966, 1967, 1968). In December 2002, he was convicted on human trafficking charges after he brought five women from Russia and Lithuania to Austria to work as prostitutes. 3)
Donauinselfest
The largest open-air music festival in the world is the Donauinselfest. It is organized on Donauinsel Island, a district of Vienna lasts three days and attracts more than 3 million people. 4)
Companies History
Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz bought an energy drink called “Krating Daeng” (Red Buffalo). It was produced by TC Pharmaceutical, a company founded in 1962 by Thai entrepreneur Chaleo Yoovidhya. Mateschitz decided to bring the drink to Europe but changed the name to “Red Bull” (the bull is his zodiac sign). In 1984 Mateschitz founded the now-famous Red Bull GmbH together with Yoovidhya in Austria. 5)
