Witcher

Geralt Roger Erik du Haute-Bellegarde

The name Geralt was given to the hero by his mother Visenna (although he himself was convinced that it was his guardian - the witcher Vesemir). He gave himself the nickname “of Rivia” but it was not his first choice. He originally wanted to refer to himself as “Geralt Roger Erik du Haute-Bellegarde”, but Vesemir successfully knocked it out of his head. 1)

Jaskier

In the Netflix series, the creators decided to keep Jaskier's name in its original form, although it was translated as Dandelion in the games and books. Dandelion is a dandelion. In a literal translation, Buttercup would be called Buttercup, but Buttercup is a female name. 2)

Vilgefortz of Roggeveen

The only person to ever defeat Geralt in a duel was the wizard Vilgefortz of Roggeveen. 3)

Assire var Anahid

The witches from the world created by Andrzej Sapkowski are very different from the stereotypical witches - first of all, they are beautiful and young (visually, of course, because they can be even several hundred years old). However, the author played with stereotypes. Assire var Anahid, a sorceress from Nilfgaard, has a cat. When she was talking to other members of the Lodge via projection, she leaned over to touch something out of frame. Triss Merigold heard a meow. “She still has a cat. I bet it's black,” Keira Metz commented. Assire's pet is named Merlin. When she joined the Lodge, Assire herself had a pale face, an ugly complexion, blue lips, a slightly hooked nose, broken fingernails, and hands marked with stains. For her first meeting, she wore a loose black robe and a conical, swept-back hat. 4)

Vicovaro

The land of Vicovaro was made famous by a bawdy song sung by Geralt and other characters in The Witcher 3: Wild Game, but it was invented much earlier, by Andrzej Sapkowski. It lies in the Nilfgaard Empire, far from the capital. Two important characters come from there - sorceress Assire var Anahid and graf Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach. 5)
