One direction digestive system

Horses are unable to burp, vomit or breathe through their mouths. Their digestive system only works in one direction. The drawback is that this can cause colic. 1)

Adult stallions have up to 44 permanent teeth in their mouth at once. Mares usually have between 36 and 40 teeth. 3)

Old Billy

Old Billy, born in England in 1760, was the longest-living horse, verified to be 62 on the day of his death. He lived as a barge horse that pulled barges up and down canals. 4)
